As a Borough Councillor and Chair of 450 homes residents group, David led the Water Tower Demolition Campaign for 3 years until the developers bowed down to the intense pressure. The tower was long gone! Many residents thought it was impossible but highly praised David’s dedicated hardworking campaign!

David led the ‘Sefton Arms Pub’ campaign for 2 years, pressuring the council to demolish the unsafe, derelict and dangerous pub in the middle of the community. The council finally agreed to demolish the pub – gone! And now the new block of flats with new local shops. Local residents were so delighted!
Local residents complained to David over bad smell / messes at the open bin store. David campaigned for 18 months to press on the local Housing Association to agree and install new bin store (brick wall and roof).
Derelict Grade 2 Horton Chapel was not used for 30 years in the middle of new housing development site after the developers gave up not to refurbish the chapel. As a local councillor and resident, David fought very hard on the council to consider his proposal to set up a community trust to take over the old chapel. This took 2 years until the council finally agreed to support David’s motion. After 3 years, we have newly refurbished Community Arts Centre that many residents and visitors enjoy visiting the centre daily, what a true transformation from nothing to the reality!
That is who David is - a natural community campaigner, representing local communities! Simply, David is what he is - resilient, not prepared to give up in pursuit of causes important to his communities.
